Nathalie Emmanuel

Nathalie Emmanuel is a British actress best known as Missandei in HBO's dramatic adventure "Game of Thrones". (HBO 2011-19). Emmanuel was raised in Southend-on-the-Sea which is a beach resort in Essex and was attracted to performing arts since an early age. Her mother was quick to notice, and when young Nathalie was just three, her parents took her to dance, acting and singing classes. Emmanuel was a skilled actor, who was developing rapidly. In the latter half in the 90s, she was playing young Nala in "The Lion King," an iconic West End musical that received rave reviews. Emmanuel began auditioning in her teens for TV and film roles. The first time she was noticed was 2007, when she got given the role of Sasha Valentine, a British soap opera "Hollyoaks", (Channel 4 95--). Emmanuel played the role of Sasha Valentine for four years before leaving Hollyoaks by the year 2010. Emmanuel's breakthrough moment followed three years later. she was cast in the role of Missandei, the interpreter for the character Daenerys Targaryen (portrayed by Emilia Clarke), on HBO's "Game of Thrones." Emmanuel will go on to play the role for each successive series of "Game of Thrones," right up until the final episode on May 19, 2019.
